Special Election Nominee

Frank Torre, RRT
My name is Frank Torre.  I was born in Hollis, Queens.  For the last seven years I have been living on long Island.  After High School I joined the United States Coast Guard and proudly served for five and half years.  While in the Coast Guard I worked as a fireman/EMT for the first two years of service; I then became a Health Services Technician/Corpsman.  After the first Gulf War I was honorably discharged.

In 1995 I enrolled in the Respiratory Therapy Program at Borough of Manhattan Community College.  I graduated in 1997 with an Associates Degree and received my RRT credentials in 1997.  I started my career at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine as a staff therapist, working primarily in MICU assisting and training the critical care fellows.  I was employed at Elmhurst Hospital Center in 2003 as Assistant Director of Hospitals, providing clinical, technical support and supervision for 30 FTE’s in all phases of respiratory care including in-services, and was responsible for quality assurance, inventory control, and payroll.  I also had to negotiate, evaluate, and purchase prevention maintenance and medical equipment contracts for the respiratory care department.

I am currently employed at New York Hospital of Queens.  I began working here in 2007 as the Lead Respiratory Therapist in the NICU and PICU.  My responsibilities include training respiratory staff, physicians, and nurses on ventilator management and ordering equipment for NICU and PICU as well as performing quality control checks.  I am currently a member of the AARC and I am also a member of the board of directors of the Hicksville Chamber of Commerce.
